Dear El Sueno supporters

With a huge amount of regret we have to let you know that we have decided NOT to organise a Machynlleth festival for this summer. The last 8 weeks or so have seen the festival organisers exploring a number of options to see whether they could work, without risking losing large amounts of festival funds.

Our recent zoom meeting looked at all options again, and came to the reluctant, but unanimous decision that the levels of uncertainty, Covid regulations, insurance costs, difficulties with travel and accommodation etc. mean that it is not practical to start the process of organising an event. So we have decided to save our funds and our energies for Summer 2022 festival, when we hope above all to be able to welcome you all back to beautiful Machynlleth, for a celebration of Victor Jara, and Latin American cultures and politics. This will focus on the wonderful, tiny country of El Salvador – details will start to emerge from late autumn, when we all hope the pandemic situation will be much clearer.

Meanwhile we are organising an evening on zoom with a number of co-collaborators, to celebrate Victor Jara’s iconic concept album ‘La Población’ – ‘The Neighbourhood’. This will be on Saturday September 18th 2021. You can listen to the album, which Victor researched and wrote within the urban Community of Herminda de la Victoria, (Santiago) on Youtube here:
